An emerging artist based in The Bahamas.

Laurie, a native of Pennsylvania,is a self-taught artist based on Grand Bahama Island who combines an expressive style with vivid color. Laurie earned a joint Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Sociology from Sweet Briar College in 1980. Her years post graduation have been filled with extensive travel while raising her family, providing many opportunities  to absorb the colours and cultures of countries around the world.

In 2013 Laurie studied with French Impressionist painter, Jill Steenhuis, an accomplished artist and Sweet Briar classmate. Together they painted in the steps of the Old Masters throughout Aix-en-Provence in a week-long workshop.

In April of 2014, Laurie had work accepted for Transforming Spaces 2014, a juried art exhibition held inNassau, The Bahamas. Additionally, she was recently presented as an "Up and Coming New Artist" at the Charitable Arts Foundation Gala Dinner and Fine Art Auction, which supports Bahamian artistic and cultural achievement.

Laurie is increasingly becoming known for her vibrant use of colour  in her abstract paintings and animal portraits. Her commissioned pet portraits capture the personalities of her subjects in an original, impressionist style. Each painting is an individual interpretation and is painted in oils.

Laurie's paintings are in private collections in Europe, Canada, The United States and The Bahamas. Married to a native Scotsman, they are permanent residents of The Bahamas, where they have raised their two sons. Together with her husband, Laurie divides her time travelling and painting between homes in Grand Bahama & Edinburgh.
